What do you love about being an Interior Designer?
“For me, the best thing about being an Interior Designer is seeing your designs come to life. Creating a concept, producing the documentation and then seeing your design in built form is really fulfilling. Also, having the ability to influence the atmosphere of a space through different design elements is something I am passionate about as a Designer.”

Mel McKosker
How has your experience at Sydney Design School helped you to get started in the industry?
“I am really grateful for my experience at Sydney Design School. After graduating, Julie from SDS Connect helped me to find my first job as an Interior Designer at design and construction company, OMGprojects.”
What does a typical day look like?
“I have recently started a new role as an Interior Designer at DS17 and a typical day involves meeting with the Company Director to discuss briefs, creating concept presentations, producing AutoCAD documentation and sourcing furniture and finishes.”
What is your greatest achievement to date?
“After graduating from SDS, my employment with OMGprojects presented many opportunities to learn and grow as a Designer. Being involved in the design and construction process for office fit-outs for iconic buildings such as Australia Square and the MLC Centre was a huge achievement in my career to date. I also see my new role as an Interior Designer at DS17 as a personal accomplishment – working in hospitality design has always been a goal of mine.”
