In this exciting foundation course students will explore projects in interiors, styling, creative direction, textile design and visual communication enabling them to gain the skills and confidence to select their pathway to further study and a creative career.

What are my options?
We offer three learning options to better fit in with your school timetable and learning style. Join us on campus in one week blocks during the holidays, or one day a week throughout the school year. Or be part of a live online Zoom classroom from school or home one day a week.
One Year Program – Statement of Attainment
Option 1: On campus – 3 weeks delivered in 1 week blocks
9.30am – 4pm for one week in April, July and September school holidays
Option 2: On campus – 1 afternoon per week for 30 weeks
Tuesdays 1pm– 4pm for 30 weeks across Terms 1, 2 & 3
Option 3: Live online with an Educator from home or school – 1 afternoon per week for 30 weeks
Wednesdays 1pm – 4pm for 30 weeks across Terms 1, 2 & 3
Two Year Program – Certificate III in Design Fundamentals
Option 1: On campus – 6 weeks in 1 week blocks
Year One: 9.30am – 4pm for one week in April, July and September school holidays
Year Two: 9.30am – 4pm for one week in January, April and July school holidays
Option 2: On campus – 1 afternoon per week for 60 weeks
Tuesdays 1pm – 4pm
Year One: 40 weeks across Terms 1, 2, 3 & 4
Year Two: 20 weeks across Terms 1 & 2, timed to finish before HSC trials
Option 3: Live online with an Educator from home or school – 1 afternoon per week for 60 weeks

What are the entry requirements?
There are no entry requirements for this course, just bring your passion for design. This program is for New South Wales high schools only.

What are my future study options?
The Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (CUA30720) provides direct entry into our Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Interior Design with no ATAR required.
Sydney Design School and UNSW Sydney have partnered to offer graduates of the Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Interior Design the opportunity to apply for direct entry into the Bachelor of Interior Architecture (Hons) saving them 12 months and 18 months of study respectively.
What do I need?
You will need our Design Kit to complete this course and it will be supplied at no additional cost. If you are studying on campus you will receive your Design Kit on the first day of class, if you are studying live online it will be shipped to your home.
In terms of equipment, you will need the following at home. For those studying on campus this is only needed to complete homework.
/ A basic desktop computer or laptop
/ Internet and a browser
/ Microsoft Word
