The Night Class // Fitting study around a busy life
Ever wondered what studying in the evening would be like? We often get asked how it all works – so here’s all the info you need to transform your career by night whilst working during the day…
Which evenings will I study?
Evening classes are ideal for those working or looking after children during the day. You’ll study on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.15pm – 9.15pm and graduate as a professional Interior Decorator in just 12 months.
What qualification will I receive?
You’ll study our accredited Certificate IV in Interior Decoration (MSF40118). A course written and delivered by professional Interior Decorators working in the industry. This hands-on, creative course focuses on residential interiors and gives you the skills to transform a home with style and confidence.
What will I learn?
You’ll cover all the skills you need to start working in the industry as a professional Interior Decorator. Our students start with core subjects like drawing (don’t worry we can teach anyone!) and colour theory then progress into model making, sample boards and technical drawing. The course explores contemporary design for kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces culminating in your Major Project – a fully resolved resdiential interior scheme.
How much extra homework can I expect?
Most of your course is work is completed in class but there are additional projects you’ll need to spend time on at home. We recommend students allow for 2-4 hours of additional study per week.
How will I find work after I graduate?
We’ve got you covered. Our in-house Career Coach is on-hand from day one of your studies to talk about your passions and map out a career path in interiors. Everyone has a different dream so it’s important that we understand where you want your qualification to take you, that way we can suggest part time work opportunities or internships that will give you relevant experience. Closer to graduation our Career Coach can give you interview tips and advice on your portfolio. We pride ourselves on being closely connected to the industry to ensure you’re the first to know about new job roles and opportunities. Our career service SDS Connect boasts a 90% success rate in placing graduates in employment after 6 months.
Can I credit this course towards a Diploma?
Absolutely, every unit counts towards our Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses so if you want to further your studies you’re already on your way! Find out more about these courses here.
