Interior and property styling is a growth industry and a career that’s creative, fulfilling and where no two days are ever the same. In this practical 3-day course you’ll learn the principles and techniques of styling a home to sell or stay. You’ll become a visual storyteller – sourcing, selecting and curating furniture, accessories and props to bring an interior space to life.
We have developed this course in partnership with Huntley + Co, Sydney’s specialists in interior property styling hire. You’ll learn from Sydney Design School Educators in their inspiring showroom over three days. We will introduce you to the principles and techniques of styling and you will practice your newfound skills using their beautiful range of furniture and accessories.

What does the course cover?
- Introduction to property styling
- Understanding design styles
- Styling to sell and styling to stay
- Go to colour palettes for Stylists
- Vignettes and how to style them
- Key relationships
- Floor plan basics
- Selecting and sourcing props and accessories
- Installing on site
- Hands-on styling using furniture and accessories at Huntley + Co
Is this course accredited?
On completion of this course you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment from Sydney Design School (RTO 91446) detailing the competencies you have achieved – “MSFID5018 Provide interior styling service” and “CUADES412 Interpret and respond to a design brief.” This vocational short course is written and developed by industry professionals to ensure our students study the most relevant and current content. The competencies in this course are accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training sector.
You can credit these competencies towards the Certificate IV in Design (Styling and Creative Direction) offered exclusively online by our partner school Interior Design Online. More info here.
What should I bring?
Bring a pen and notebook and you will need your phone camera to take photos of your styled spaces.
