Looking to extend your presentation skills? Create detailed 3D models of your interior designs using this intuitive and easy-to-learn program. Our SketchUp for Designers course will take you step by step through a real two storey residential project. You’ll use the 3D Warehouse, the world’s largest online library, to easily import furniture and lighting to your model. To give your interior a stunning photo-realistic feel, we’ll introduce you to a rendering tool that adds surfaces, finishes and light.
Whilst this comprehensive course has been created for those working in the design or construction industry you’ll need little or no experience in this software, only enthusiasm. This course is delivered on campus during the day or evening with the support of our passionate Educators.

What are the course dates?
Evening Class
- Mon and Wed 6.15pm – 9.15pm
- From Mon 30 Aug to Wed 20 Oct 2021
- 5 weeks of study across a 7 week period including a 2 week break for school holidays
Day Class
- Thursdays 9.30am – 4.30pm
- From Thurs 2 Sept to Thurs 14 Oct 2021
- 5 weeks of study across a 7 week period including a 2 week break for school holidays
What is the cost?
You can pay for this course in full or by instalments.
- Pay in total: $990 (GST free)
- Or pay by instalment: $190 deposit followed by 2 x $400 instalments (GST free)
- A 2% PayPal processing fee will be applied at checkout (inc GST).
What does the course cover?
- Toolbars, the interface, drawing commands and components
- Geo location, site shadows and terrain modelling
- Importing CAD files
- The 3D Warehouse and editing
- Applying styles and shadows to a model
- Photomatching
- Scenes, walk throughs and animation
- Sections
- Mapping curved surfaces
- Exporting drawings for printing
- Advanced presentation skills
- Rendering and textures

Is this course accredited?
On completion of this course you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment from Sydney Design School (RTO 91446) detailing the competency you have achieved. This vocational short course is written and developed by industry professionals to ensure our students study the most relevant and current content. The competency in this course is accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training sector.
You can credit this competency towards the Diploma of Interior Design or Advanced Diploma of Interior Design.
What equipment and software do I need?
Whilst the course is delivered on a PC in our computer lab, all students will need a laptop or desktop computer to complete their homework. Please note you will also need to purchase a 12 month student subscription to SketchUp ($93.50). Access to this subscription can be gained using your course confirmation.
Is this right for me?
You do not need any previous experience to complete this course as we will introduce you to the software step by step, starting with the basics.
This course has been designed for Interior Decorators and Designers, Architects, Draftspeople, Builders, Landscape Architects, architecture and interior design students and those working in the construction industry.
