We’re offering a limited number of partially subsidised courses to eligible and passionate creatives living or working in NSW. This training is funded by the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled program. If you’ve always wanted to study our world-class interiors qualification but can’t join us in Sydney, now is your chance. Learn in a virtual studio from home
This exclusive opportunity for creatives living or working in NSW is delivered in our live online classroom, so you can study from the comfort of home. We’ve developed this unique experience to allow you to interact online with like-minded classmates and be guided in real-time by our passionate Educators.
- Classes run two days per week (Monday and Tuesday)
- 9.30am – 4.30pm for 6 months
- Our next intake starts 20 April 2024
- We will break for NSW public school holidays
Our accredited course
Become a professional Interior Decorator with our accredited Certificate IV in Interior Decoration. You’ll begin with the elements and principles of design, before exploring the inspiring world of colour and drawing. We’ll teach you how to develop interior schemes and plan kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and living spaces. For your final Major Project you will take a brief from a real client and present a fully resolved interior scheme for their home.
This course is delivered by Design Schools Australia, trading as Sydney Design School. Registered training provider 91446.

Step 1 / Check your eligibility
To apply for this opportunity you need to be:
- Passionate about a future in interiors
- No longer in secondary school
- 15 years and over
- Living or working in NSW (or an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person living in specific defined interstate NSW border areas)
- An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
Please note: You will need to provide evidence of your eligibility if you are selected for an online interview. Documents must be verified.


Step 2 / Apply online

Once we receive your online application form we will provide a fee quote with your exact subsidy amount.
Step 3 / Interview
We will also invite you to a short online interview via Zoom to get to know you better and ensure this course is a good fit for you. You will need to send verified evidence of your eligibility prior to this interview.


Additional costs to consider
The course is partially subsidised for eligible applicants who are selected for entry, you will be advised of your exact subsidy amount in your fee quote. You will begin paying your gap fee in 5 monthly instalments from 20 April 2026.
You will also need to pay for your Design Kit. This includes all the tools you need to complete your course. Our Design Kit costs $660 (GST inc) and must be purchased 2 weeks prior to your course start date. This will be shipped to you free of charge. You will need to allow $50 per term for incidental costs eg. photocopying.
